The basic requirements for a bachelor thesis at the chair are:
- The visit of International Economics (Veranstaltung Internationale Wirtschaft)
- As well as at least one elective course of the different modules offered by the Department (usually Monetary Policy former Geldtheorie und angewandte Makroökonomie).
Please note that the Bachelor Lecture „Macroeconomics (Makroökonomie)“ is not a choice module. Not more than one module from these can be recognized when studied abroad (Learning Agreement).
A bachelor thesis takes on average 9 weeks.

The Chair of Macroeconomics (FAU) co-organized the second joint Master’s seminar on “European Topics in Economics,” in collaboration with the European Commission (DG for Economic and Financial Affairs, Unit F1). Our students presented their data analyses on the labor market integration of migrants, wage interactions between the private and public sector, the dynamics of the construction sector, households’ savings rates and households’ asset allocations. The presentations were followed by discussions with economists from the European Commission (this time online due to Covid-19). Thanks to the European Commission for this fruitful exchange.

The IAB and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg invite applications for seven doctoral scholarships beginning October 1st, 2020. The Graduate Center GradAB offers a three-year programme of high-level training in labour market research, which can be extended for another year under certain conditions. The course programme provides training on labour market research, methods, and data at an advanced level and is held in English. GradAB Scholarships 2019
The IAB and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg invite applications for six doctoral scholarships beginning October 1st, 2019.
The Graduate Center GradAB offers a three-year programme of high-level training in labour market research, which can be extended for another year under certain conditions.
The course programme provides training on labour market research, methods, and data at an advanced level and is held in English.
Additionally, applicants are granted access to the excellent data of the IAB on employment and social security. The scholarship offers financial support of 1,350 € / month. The application deadline is 15 March 2019.
